Bibi Wasiimah Joomun is the Executive Director for the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA). Wasiimah obtained her undergraduate degree from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick in 2020. After graduating, Wasiimah was the Executive Director for the New Brunswick Student Alliance (NBSA) until her move to Ottawa in 2022 to be the Member Relations Officer for CASA. In August 2023, Wasiimah was hired to be CASA’s next Executive Director. Wasiimah has been passionate about advocating for a more accessible, affordable and high quality post-secondary education for all students during and after their studies since she was elected as the International Student Representative in her first year of University in 2017. Wasiimah is originally from Mauritius and moved to Canada in September 2016 to pursue her studies. Wasiimah prides herself in her journey through the education system in Canada and has first hand experience on how post-secondary education advocacy is important in improving the lives of students. Through her work, her involvement in the community and her personal life, Wasiimah strives to ensure that a safe, inclusive environment is fostered; guided by her communication, teamwork, critical thinking and consensus skill sets. When not working, Wasiimah can be found sleeping or enjoying a few cocktails with friends.

Trevor Potts

Policy & Research Analyst

Trevor is the Policy and Research Analyst at the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA). He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Honours Science and Classics, and recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Masters in Global Health Systems.


Prior to joining CASA, Trevor worked as Policy Analyst with College Student Alliance (CSA) in Toronto, as well as worked in Copenhagen for the UN Refugee Agency Global Operations team, and as a Program Coordinator at Aga Khan University in Kampala.


In his free time, Trevor plays 5 instruments, makes fancy espresso creations, and hosts a podcast: CollegeCast.

Pamela Bassoi

Pamela is a proud Brazilian from Sao Paulo, who has been living in Ottawa for almost 4 years now. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and is a specialist in Civil, International and Consumer Law in Brazil. Pamela has studied, travelled and lived across the world and she brings to CASA more than 10 years of experience in administrative, legal and bookkeeping roles.

Pamela truly believes we all can contribute to a better world. She says that even small good actions, may have a huge impact in somebody else’s life. She also considers high quality education access as a determinant for a better future.

Pamela stands and fights for equity - which means recognizing and respecting other people’s differences, ensuring that everybody has equal opportunities, Rights and privileges. She highly values attributes such as honesty, integrity, kindness, dedication, positivity, perseverance and bravery.

In her free time, Pamela has a passion for travelling, cooking, dancing, drawing manga (Japanese comic books), reading, studying different languages, watching TV series and movies and, listening to music, especially 80’s songs.

Max Greer

Communications and Creative Content Officer

Hailing from the Niagara region, Max brings a background of marketing and social media content creation to his role as Communications and Creative Content Officer (CCCO) at CASA. He is a graduate of the Film Production program at Niagara College, and specializes in creating content that connects with, inspires and empowers the viewer. 

Max got his start in content creation when he was the volunteer Videographer/Photographer for the YWCA Niagara Region. From there he worked at a startup marketing agency in Toronto before beginning a two year stint in the automotive industry. When he’s not at work Max is most likely walking his dog Goose around Ottawa, baking some bread or drinking an overpriced latte.

Matthew Gerrits

Government and Stakeholder Relations Officer

Matthew is the Government and Stakeholder Relations Officer at the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations.

Matthew grew up in rural Southwestern Ontario, and attended the University of Waterloo, where he received his undergraduate degree in Knowledge Integration, with a focus on politics, policy, and economics. After proudly serving for two years leading government relations at the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association as Vice President, Education, Matthew completed his Master in Public Service at the University of Waterloo. He served eight months as a Junior Policy Analyst for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Matthew is a passionate follower of Canadian and American politics and follows policy across many areas. Outside of the political world, Matthew is a frequent attendee of the Stratford Festival and enjoys going home to the family farm. He is a dedicated Wikipedian, a supporter of good urbanism, and also spends much of his spare time studying and thinking about student associations.

Griffyn Margetts

Completing a bachelors in information design at Mount Royal university, Griffyn has a passion for all this design, data and visual storytelling. Having history in graphic design as well, Griffyn’s portfolio extends as far back as 2015, and continues to build as he finds new ways to innovate, create and explore the field of design.

Born and raised in Calgary Alberta, Griffyn has also lived in Nanaimo British Columbia, and briefly studied abroad in Tokyo Japan- exposing him to a variety of student experiences. Beyond design, Griffyn has a passion for storytelling, photography, history and nature!

Griffyn is always looking for new opportunities to learn whatever new things are thrown his way, and being a brand new member of the CASA/ACAE team, Griffyn looks forward to helping students across Canada through creative promotion of CASA’s missions and goals!

Stephin Sathya

Stephin Sathya is the Member Relations Officer for the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations. He came to Canada in 2022 after completing his Bachelors in India. He did two post-grad programs at Fanshawe College in London, ON. After working in the student union events team for a year, he got elected as President in 2023. During his year, he advocated for some major organizational changes and also brought back the student union into federal advocacy for the first time since 1995. He's passionate about student government and working with young adults. Stephin prides himself on building connections through communication, teamwork, and community engagement. He's a big believer in kindness and how it changes people’s lives.

In Stephin's free time, he likes to do photography, read, watch his favourite series, or volunteer at his church.
